Reduced price - moving! Dakota is a pleasure to ride and very comfortable bareback or in saddle. He has a sweet disposition and is a very affectionate small horse/pony trained by the amish in ohio to ride and drive. He is rock solid in the ring, and is very willing with great heart. He loves to jump. I have jumped him bareback mostly. He really enjoys it! He loves to follow another horse or bike on the trail (can be nervous alone on trail, but not in ring). He particularly would make an excellent DRESSAGE prospect. Has smooth gait and floats. He is also super smart, like a dog in many ways and understands when you explain things, it is quite amazing. I bought him in ohio 3 years ago from good amish friends of mine who specialize in shoeing and training horses, and from whom I bought my draft team and mare years ago. He was loved on when taught to ride and you can count on him to keep you on. He was trained by different people to drive though, and they hit him so he does not respond well to striking or unkindness, he will actually whimper. I brought him to nantucket initially and we rode all over the island and the nearby vineyard. We now live in pensacola where he has more pasture to graze. Unfortunately my new job has me traveling for the next 2 years, to Indiana then North Dakota. I can only afford timewise/money to keep my old bay gelding, who is getting on in years and loves semi-retirement. Its been harder to find people to ride out with in since I moved, so I can only take one horse out at a time, and I need to focus on my bay whom I had first and is in his 20's, who loves being 'put out to pasture.' Dakota wants to play and be ridden now! He is so loveable that he deserves someone who will love on him as he loves back so well. He is an exceptional horse, with prized markings. I paid $4500 for from the amish, as his coloring is highly valuable, and I have taught him to jump, so $3000 is very fair. His tail and mane are so thick and full, and is gypsy like in appearance, just needs feathers! He runs up to you in the field, super easy to catch. He trailers like a champ. All you have to do is show him and he tends to 'understand' and gets it, so you can introduce him easily to all kinds of things. He has been shown in horsemanship and gaming classes and is awesome. You will love him, he is truly a treasure. Kind owners need only apply, he is a lovebug.
